Children's Dentistry

Cottesloe Dental is able to treat children of all ages and we recommend they begin their experience with the dentist from as young as one year old, usually with a quick check on mum's lap. This will help to catch any problems early and also start a life-long relationship with a positive memory.

At Cottesloe Dental we aim to make your child's dental experiences as pleasant as possible. This starts with our dedicated fun-filled kid's playroom, followed by being helped by well-trained and friendly clinical staff. We have happy gas (nitrous oxide) available to help nervous children relax and through specialised techniques can make dentistry as quick and comfortable as possible.

Dental Implants

Teeth are lost for many reasons, either through trauma or due to decay or gum disease. Whatever the reason for losing your teeth they need to be replaced both for aesthetic and functional reasons.

Dental implants are now a popular treatment to replace missing teeth as they provide a long-term solution, slow down bone loss and preserve the healthy dentition. A dental implant is an artificial replacement for your natural tooth and is anchored into a drilled space in your jaw bone to support a crown, bridge or secure a denture firmly in place.

Implants are made from titanium, a material that is well tolerated by bone. Dental implants have very high success rates, up to 97%.

Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns (caps) can be used to restore tooth appearance and strength. A crown covers the entire visible portion of a tooth and is used when a tooth is too damaged for a filling.

Bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. Both crowns and bridges are custom-made in our on-site laboratory or by trusted external technicians to match your natural teeth.

Sleep Apnoea

Sleep related disorders comprise a variety of conditions that occur during sleep and range from snoring to Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, where people actually stop breathing for periods during sleep. There are significant health problems associated with this, including cognitive impairment and an increased cardiovascular risk.

Cognitive impairment can greatly affect quality of life, increase tiredness, impair memory and increase the risk of motor vehicle accidents. Recent studies show that snorers have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease such as high blood pressure. Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea have an increased risk of atherosclerosis and stroke, and are four times more likely to have a heart attack.
