1923 to today
Five generations. One address. The same commitment to this community.
Our history
1923
The Beginning
Cottesloe Dental was founded by L F Glaskin, commonly known as Len. The original practice operated from Len's home at 6 Francis Street in Mosman Park and serviced the Cottesloe community. In those early days a filling would cost just fifteen shillings.
1920s
The Move to Green's Chemist
A few years later Len moved the business to the rear of Green's Chemist. This location was demolished, along with the historic buildings Wells Hall and the Cottesloe Picture Theatre, to make way for what is now Cottesloe Central Shopping Centre.
1947
The Next Generation
Bruce Glaskin, son of Len, joined the practice and they worked alongside each other for close to a decade, laying the foundation of the family focused values we still hold today.
Today
478 Stirling Highway
The property next to Green's Chemist was purchased and has since been redeveloped and expanded multiple times to represent the existing building Cottesloe Dental resides in today, at 478 Stirling Highway, Peppermint Grove.
2023
100 Years
Since then 23 more partners, and countless further associate dentists, dental therapists, hygienists, assistants, receptionists, managers, and technicians, have contributed to the ongoing success of Cottesloe Dental and the overall improvement of the Cottesloe community. 2023 saw us celebrate our 100-year anniversary.
How we work
Cottesloe Dental is committed to the promotion of lifelong dental health and supporting the wellbeing of our diverse community. We aim to achieve this by providing dental education, preventative care and reconstructive dentistry using the latest techniques in a professional and friendly environment.
We are proud of the quality service we have been providing for more than 100 years and strive to make your visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
We treat patients of all ages, from 0 to 100+ years old, and of all needs and requirements. Our practice has been built upon being able to provide a long-lasting relationship between our dentists and patients, one that is able to adapt to our patients' needs as they progress through life.
It is our priority to ensure that our patients remain under the care of a single dentist, who will take responsibility for their management and for an ongoing relationship.
Beyond the practice
Our team contributes to the broader Perth community through teaching, outreach, and hospital work.
Teaching and hospitals
Dr Joshua Graieg consults for the Craniofacial Unit at Perth Children's Hospital.
Dr Phillip Keenan teaches at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia and maintains ties with Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Outreach and environment
Dr Youssef Francis volunteers with St Mary's Outreach Service in East Victoria Park.
In 2018, Cottesloe Dental installed solar panels to reduce our environmental footprint.
Our standards
We are a QIP-accredited practice and a member of the Australian Dental Association. We accept Department of Veterans' Affairs patients. QIP accreditation means our practice meets rigorous national standards for infection control, equipment maintenance, staff training, and patient safety.
